So now Randy has vented his 'feelings' about his brother's posthumous album. Did he 'Tweet' anything I didnt expect him to 'Tweet' - well no, apart from openly attacking Sony. There has been evidence around for ages that there was a divide opening up between 'The Family' & 'The Estate' - reports recently that Katherine was not getting her 'monthly allowance' bore witness to this. Did he need to do this? I think not. If he has his suspicions, then I am sure he carries enough weight to sort them out off of the public forum. He, and the rest of the Jacksons must be well aware of all of the confusion and heartache that is going on in the Fan Community over what should have been a joyfull occasion.
So for those who are still confused and are interested in my view point here is my take on things:-
1. Take into account, when you read someone's posting, comment, account, report on the album, who is posting, commenting, reporting. Then ask yourself what is in it for them?
2. Be very aware that we are most definitely being manipulated here by one or several parties - remember that all this controversy is putting 'Michael' right out there in the spotlight and as such is benefiting aforementioned parties
3. As I have said a gazillion times before we already have the best of Michael in our collections, we are not going to hear any better. From now on we have to get used to the fact that whatever is put out there will on occasions only contain partly Michael, it will also sound different because Michael is not around to put the 'finishing touches' which made his songs so unique, on them. They are now being mixed, layered and finished by others...so they will sound different. Teddy Riley in a recent interview told us that on many occasions Michael would go into the studio and only lay down a few tracks as 'ideas' to work on. No doubt these will in the future be used.
4. The big debate is really the 'quality' of what gets put out there. As Michael's fans one of our 'unofficial' roles is to be gatekeepers to Michael's legacy and yes to scream and shout if something is put out there which isnt factually correct or not musically up to Michael's standards. To my mind in that respect, from the tracks I have heard, I do not have a problem with 'Michael'. What I do have a problem with and what I think needs to be addressed within the Industry in such circumstances, is in a way similar to the food industry. Certainly in this country a producer, say of a 'Steak & Kidney' pie cannot market it as such if it does not contain Steak, or they need to actually highlight exactly what % of the pie is made up of Steak . So in the Record Industry if they are going to release a CD of Michael Jackson, then to my mind it has to contain 100% Michael Jackson, if it doesn't then they must be legally be obliged to let the fans and the buying public now exactly how much of Michael is on the album and what other vocals are included to make up the tracks. THERE MUST BE TRANSPARENCY WITHIN THE MUSIC BUSINESS!!
5. At the end of the day - it is up to you. Just because you buy it or not will not make you any less of a fan.
There are obviously a lot of other issues that are unfortunately surrounding Michael and as such have 'clouded' the release of this Album for us. Try not to let this happen. If you want to, buy the Album, sit back and enjoy it for what it is - Michael's legacy to us...my god I think after the year we have had, we have earned this!!
